George was born on 8 December 1916 in Staffordshire, England.
Son of Scoltock and Annie Elizabeth Paylor.
George was married to Winifred Mary Collins of Wilnecote, Staffordshire in 1942.
He worked for W. F. Woodcock & Sons in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
George served as a lance corporal in South Staffordshire Regiment, 2nd Airborne Battalion, B.E.F. during World War II.
He was killed in action near Siracusa, Sicily during the Operation Ladbroke landings.
He was only 26 years old.
Operation Ladbroke was the glider assault on Ponte Grande, a vital bridge just outside Siracusa, which had to be taken and secured for the British forces who landed on the beaches between Siracusa and Pachino in the early morning of 10 July 1943. Many gliders were released too early and crashed in the sea sometimes drowning the entire crew on board. The exact cause of George's death is unknown, but he was buried with several other South Staffs in isolated graves in Sicily. He was reburied on Syracuse War Cemetery on 20 November 1943.
