John was born in 1920.
Son of Thomas Lockwood-Bunce, M.B.E., and Isabel Mary Lockwood-Bunce, of Aughton, Lancashire.
Before joining the Navy, John worked as a fire warden at St. Catharine's Hospital in Liverpool.
During the Blitz, he was badly injured in the head whilst dealing with incendiaries on the roof of the hospital.
John served as a sub-lieutenant in Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, BEF during World War II.
He was killed in action when he was only 23 years old.
