was born on 7 February 1915 in West Byfleet, Woking Borough, Surrey, England.
Son of Oswald Graham Noel Turnbull MC and Doris Trevor, of Fifield, Berkshire, his first wife.
Noel had attracted fame by winning a gold medal at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games in the Men's Tennis Doubles with Max Woosnam who is still regarded as one of the greatest British all-round sportsmen of the 20th Century.
At the time Graham attended Lockers Park school at the age of 8, the family were living in Old Avenue, West Byfleet however, it is clear that Noel was quite a character, having had at least three marriages, his first divorce citing regular absences from home and various girlfriends whom he happily brough home.
Education: Lockers Park, Hemel Hempstead (23-28); Harrow School (Moreton's House) (28-33) Commissioned into the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers May 1940. He was with the 2nd Battalion in North Africa in 1943 to prepare for Operation Husky (the assault on Sicily).
He landed at Cassibile on 10th July.
He was killed the following day (11th July) in the outskirts of Syracuse. Aged 28.
