Captain James Hay Chapman was the only child of my aunt Mrs. Norah Chapman. My aunt (my father's sister) lived at 76 Joppa road, Joppa,Midlothian - Edinburgh until her death in november 1960. My father was also initially a military officer and served in 1/153 punjabis. His name was Robert William Murray Hay.He was born on 13 october 1891 at 6 Muirhall Terrace, Perth,scotland to captain James Robertson hay and Catherine Hay (nee Dolan). My grand father was also a military officer and served in the third battalion Royal Highlanders. My father took discharge from military sevice and became a tea planter in civilian life. He died shortly after my aunts death,on27 april at tellicherry,india. my aunt was a swimming instructress.
My grandfather was a lieutenant in the third battalion royal highlanders when he married my grandmother in1869 at Sterking.
